Our materials - Grow in a fair flow
Our materials – Sustainable, Fair & Natural
Timeless organic fashion made from European natural fibers – fairly produced since 1987.
At LANA Organic, we love naturalness and believe in honest fashion made from natural, durable materials. Our collections are crafted from high-quality raw materials that are not only comfortable to wear but also have the smallest possible ecological footprint. We prioritize quality and durability in our materials and fabrics and place great importance on fair and sustainable production. We use only organic, certified, and—where possible—vegan fibers .
To keep the ecological footprint of our fashion as small as possible, we rely exclusively on raw materials of natural origin such as organic cotton, organic wool, hemp, linen, Tencel, and EcoVero viscose. Furthermore, we strive to use primarily non-animal fibers in our product range and fundamentally avoid animal-derived additives in our processing.
Organic cotton – the basis of sustainable fashion
Organic cotton is one of the most important fibers in our collection: it grows without chemical pesticides or synthetic fertilizers and comes from certified organic farming. This makes it particularly skin-friendly, breathable, and durable – ideal for sustainable fashion that you can wear every day.
Linen – robust natural fiber with tradition
Linen is made from the flax plant and is characterized by its durability, breathability, and low environmental impact. Flax cultivation requires significantly less water and resources than many other fibers, making it particularly sustainable.
Hemp – strong, natural, versatile
Hemp is one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world and is among the most ecologically valuable fibers: it grows quickly, requires little water, and needs hardly any pesticides. Hemp fabrics are robust, skin-friendly, and wear out slowly – perfect for long-lasting garments.
TENCEL™ Lyocell – modern, sustainable fiber
TENCEL™ (Lyocell) is made from wood sourced from sustainably managed forests. The production process uses a closed-loop solvent system that reuses more than 99% of the solvent. This makes TENCEL™ particularly resource-efficient. The fabric also feels soft, is breathable, and supports the skin's natural moisture balance – ideal for shirts, dresses, and casual basics.
EcoVero Viscose – responsibly produced
EcoVero viscose is a more sustainable form of viscose, made from wood sourced from certified sustainable forestry. During production, water and energy consumption are reduced, and the use of harmful chemicals is minimized. EcoVero viscose combines comfort, flexibility, and environmental awareness.
Organic wool – natural warmth with responsibility
For our wool products, we use certified organic animal husbandry (kbT) and preferentially source our wool from countries with high ecological standards. We prioritize animal welfare and the preservation of natural habitats to guarantee responsibly produced wool. Many of our wool items are also GOTS-certified.
Our selection criteria for materials
We select materials not only based on sustainability aspects, but also examine the entire life cycle:
- Ecological raw material extraction and cultivation
- Transparent supply chains and fair production
- Skin-friendliness and suitability for everyday use
- Durability instead of fleeting fashion
- Avoidance of harmful chemicals and microplastics
If a material lacks certification, we test it according to our own high standards before using it. In doing so, we ensure that cultivation, extraction, manufacturing, and processing not only protect the environment but also the people involved in these processes.
Many of our wool products are also GOTS-certified.
Certifications, quality seals & transparency
A large portion of our materials are GOTS-certified (Global Organic Textile Standard) – the leading international label for ecologically produced textiles. This ensures that all steps – from cultivation and production to processing – meet strict ecological and social standards.
This ensures one thing above all: a respectful approach to the environment and nature. In addition to our natural fibers, which are cultivated and harvested in mixed-crop systems under the highest ecological standards for soil quality and nutrient richness, even the few raw materials of animal origin are sourced only under the strictest adherence to animal welfare regulations. By avoiding pollutants and pesticides and practicing crop rotation, the soils can retain water more effectively, thus conserving not only the world's most precious resource but also protecting local waterways and drinking water supplies from pollution.
In addition, we examine vegan alternatives wherever possible and consciously avoid animal-derived additives to strengthen our vegan product line.
Our sustainability promise
Sustainability is not a trend for us, but a commitment – to nature, to people, and to you as our customer. With our materials, we take responsibility for fashion that is both ecologically and socially responsible, while also remaining timeless and durable.
